عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: أَنَا أَسْمَعُ قِرَاءَةَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ وَأَنَا عَلَى عَرِيشِي هَٰذَا وَهُوَ عِنْدَ الْكَعْبَةِ
Sayyida Umm Hani bint Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I used to hear the recitation of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the last third of the night, while I would be on the roof of my hut and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would be near the Ka'bah.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From this and Hadith number (597), it is understood that reciting aloud during the night prayer (qiyam al-layl) is also permissible. In this manner, it becomes easier for the worshipper to focus on the prayer. However, when there is another person praying nearby, then according to the command of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the voice should be kept low.
