عَنْ قُطْبَةَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ {وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ}
Sayyiduna Qutbah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting this verse in the Fajr prayer: {وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ}.
Brief Explanation
(1638) Takhrij: The hadith is authentic except for his statement: "He would recite 'Ya Seen wal-Qur'an al-Hakim'," because only Simak bin Harb narrated it, and he is among those whose solitary narrations are not acceptable due to his poor memory. And there is supporting evidence for the recitation of Surah {ق} by the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in the Fajr prayer from the hadith of Qutbah bin Malik, recorded by Muslim: 457 (see: 16396).
