It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to recite in each of the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr about thirty verses, and in each of the last two rak'ahs about fifteen verses. And in each of the first two rak'ahs of 'Asr, he would recite about fifteen verses, and in the last two rak'ahs, about half of that.
