It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, led the Zuhr prayer. A man recited the Surah "Sabbihisma Rabbikal A'la" behind him. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, finished the prayer, he asked: "Who among you recited 'Sabbihisma Rabbikal A'la'?" That man said: "I did." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I had realized that someone among you had confused me with its recitation."

Hadith Takhrij«اسناداه صحيحان علي شرط الشيخين، أخرجه مسلم: 398 ، (انظر مسند أحمد ترقيم الرسالة: 19815)۔ ترقیم بيت الأفكار الدولية: 20053»
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From this hadith it is understood that the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum), while following the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) in the silent (sirri) prayers, used to recite (Qur'an) in addition to Surah al-Fatihah. In this hadith, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) forbade raising the voice. The followers (muqtadis) should continue their recitation in a low voice.
