It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to observe two pauses: one pause when he began the prayer, and the second, when he completed the recitation of the second surah before bowing (ruku‘). Later, when this hadith was mentioned before Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: "Samurah has spoken incorrectly," and according to another narration, he said: "I do not remember such a thing from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Then he wrote regarding this matter to Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with him), who was in Madinah, and he replied that Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) had spoken the truth.
