It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I see things that you do not see and I hear things that you do not hear. The sky creaks, and it is right for it to creak, for there is no space of four fingers in it except that there is an angel prostrating there. If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much, and you would abandon enjoying your wives in your beds, rather you would go out to the deserted roads (and wildernesses) and cry out to Allah the Exalted." After narrating this hadith, Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said (it is apparent that the students of Abu Dharr are narrating about him): "By Allah! I wish I were a tree that would be cut down."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … If someone were to witness the realities of the universe, he would realize the majesty, greatness, and awe-inspiring glory of Allah Ta’ala, and how truly magnificent His Being is. After that, he would devote his entire life to worshipping Him, yet would still feel that he has not fulfilled His due. It is not correct to infer from this hadith that a person may abandon the world and head towards desolate places and forests, because monasticism is not permissible in Islam. Nor is it possible for any member of the Ummah to witness the realities of the universe in the manner of the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
