Hadith 1493

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was offering prayer when a kid goat began to pass in front of him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) started moving forward and backward to avoid it. Hajjaj said: He was avoiding it, and while avoiding it, he moved backward until he could see behind the kid goat.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From the narrations of this chapter, it is understood that the person performing prayer should make every possible effort to prevent anything from passing in front of him. For this purpose, he is permitted to fight, gesture, and even move about.

If we consider other versions, the meaning is that the kid goat passed behind you, as has been mentioned in Hadith number 1491. (For further details, see: Muhaqqiq Musnad Ahmad: 5/257) (Abdullah Rafiq)
