Hadith 1480

عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ فَلْيَدْنُ مِنْهَا لَا يَقْطَعُ الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَيْهِ صَلَاتَهُ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Abi Hathmah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of you prays towards a sutrah, he should come close to it so that Satan does not cut off his prayer.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The ruling given in this hadith is general, and its reason has also been stated: that in the absence of a sutrah, the prayer will be affected due to Shaytan. Therefore, one should take care to use a sutrah in every place.
