بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ السُّتْرَةِ لِلْمُصَلِّي وَالدُّنُوِّ مِنْهَا وَمِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تَكُونُ وَأَيْنَ تَكُونُ مِنْ الْمُصَلَّىChapter on the Recommendation of Using a Sutrah for the Worshipper, Its Proximity, Its Nature, and Its Position
Hadith 1477

عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كُنَّا نُصَلِّي وَالدَّوَابُّ تَمُرُّ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا فَذَكَرْنَا ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: ((مِثْلُ مُؤَخَّرَةِ الرَّحْلِ تَكُونُ بَيْنَ يَدِي أَحَدِكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَضُرُّهُ مَا مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ)) وَقَالَ عُمَرُ مَرَّةً: ((بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ))
Sayyiduna Talha bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We used to be praying and cattle would pass in front of us. When we mentioned this matter before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: When any of you has something like the back part of a saddle in front of him, then whatever passes in front does not cause harm.
