Ubaidullah bin Nafi narrates from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would place a camel between himself and the qiblah (i.e., in front of him) and perform prayer. Ubaidullah says: I asked Nafi, "When the camel would move away, what would Sayyiduna Ibn Umar do?" He replied: Then he would place the rear wooden part of the saddle in front of him. And in another narration, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would be in front of his mount and would pray facing it.
