عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ مُقْبِلًا مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ حَيْثُ تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ، وَفِيهِ نَزَلَتْ: {فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ}
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray on his mount while coming from Makkah to Madinah, and the mount would turn in whichever direction it wished. This verse was revealed regarding this matter: {أَیْنَمَا تُوَلُّوْا فَثَمَّ وَجْہُ اللَّہِ} (Wherever you turn, there is the Face of Allah).
