Hadith 1429

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to pray standing and sitting, barefoot and wearing shoes.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Performing prayer while standing or sitting should be understood as referring to the voluntary (nafl) prayers of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, because in both conditions he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would receive equal reward. If this hadith is also applied to obligatory (fard) prayers, then performing the prayer while sitting would be on account of an excuse, as is established from other ahadith.
