Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Lying down in the mosque is clearly evident. Also, consider the following hadith: Sayyiduna Jabir radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “When one of you lies on his back, he should not place one of his legs over the other.” (Tirmidhi: 2/127, Sahihah: 1255, and it is also narrated by Muslim: 6/154 with the wording: ‘None of you should lie on his back and then place one of his legs over the other.’)
Apparently, there seems to be a contradiction between these two ahadith, but in reality, there is no contradiction, because the hadith containing the prohibition will be applied to the person who is at risk of exposing his awrah (nakedness) and becoming uncovered. If complete covering has been ensured, then there is no harm in lying in this manner and placing one leg over the other, as Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zayd radi Allahu anhu also narrates that he saw the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam lying on his back in the mosque with one leg placed over the other.
