Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In addition to the aforementioned hadiths indicating the supplications for entering or leaving the mosque, further narrations are as follows, and a summary will be presented at the end.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As radi Allahu anhu that when the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would enter the mosque, he would recite this supplication: "A‘udhu billahil-‘azim wa bi-wajhihil-karim wa sultanihil-qadim min ash-shaytanir-rajim." (I seek refuge with Allah the Magnificent, with His Noble Face, and with His Eternal Authority, from the accursed devil.) The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: When a person recites this supplication, the devil says, "This person has been protected from me for the entire day or for the remainder of the day." (Abu Dawud: 466)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Humayd or Abu Usayd radi Allahu anhuma that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: When a person enters the mosque, he should recite this supplication: "Allahumma iftah li abwaba rahmatik." (O Allah! Open for me the doors of Your mercy.) And when he leaves, he should say: "Allahumma inni as’aluka min fadlik." (O Allah! I ask You for Your bounty.) (Sahih Muslim: 713) However, in the narration of Abu Dawud (465), there is this addition at the beginning: When a person enters the mosque, he should send salutations upon the Prophet, and then say "Allahumma iftah …"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: When a person enters the mosque, he should send salutations upon the Prophet and then recite this supplication: "Allahumma iftah li abwaba rahmatik." And when he leaves, he should again send salutations upon the Prophet and recite: "Allahumma a‘simni min ash-shaytanir-rajim." (Ibn Majah: 773)
