Hadith 13254

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ”كُلُّ بَنِي آدَمَ يَطْعَنُ الشَّيْطَانُ بِإِصْبَعِهِ فِي جَنْبِهِ حِينَ يُولَدُ إِلَّا عِيسَى بْنَ مَرْيَمَ ذَهَبَ يَطْعَنُ فَطَعَنَ فِي الْحِجَابِ“
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every child of Adam is touched by Satan with his finger at the time of birth, except for Isa ibn Maryam. Satan did go to touch him, but he struck through the veil and returned.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "veil" is meant the membrane in which the child is wrapped in the mother's womb and which comes out with the child at the time of birth.
Shaytan begins his influence over the child by striking him at this moment, but Allah Ta'ala protected 'Isa alayhis salam and his mother from this. This was due to the blessing of his mother's supplication, as is proven by the following hadith:
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "There is no newborn who is born except that Shaytan strikes him, so he cries out loudly because of Shaytan's strike, except for the son of Maryam and his mother." Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu said: If you wish, recite this part of the Qur'an: {اِنِّیْ اُعِیْذُھَا بِکَ وَذُرِّیَّتَھَا مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیْمِ۔} … There is no child who is born except that Shaytan strikes him, and he cries out because of Shaytan's strike, except for the son of Maryam and his mother. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu said: If you wish, recite this part of the Qur'an: "Indeed, I seek Your protection for her and her offspring from the accursed Shaytan." (Bukhari: 3431, and Muslim: 2366)
