Hadith 1325

عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((فَضْلُ الدَّارِ الْقَرِيبَةِ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ عَلَى الدَّارِ الشَّاسِعَةِ كَفَضْلِ الْغَازِي عَلَى الْقَاعِدِ))
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The virtue of the house farther from the mosque over the one closer is like the virtue of the one who participates in battle over the one who stays behind.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In several hadiths, the virtue of walking towards the mosque and of the worshipper whose house is far from the mosque has been described in various ways. In any case, those whose houses are close to the mosque benefit more from the mosques; they are able to reach the mosque even in sickness, rain, or due to some valid excuse, and they can spend more of their time in the houses of Allah, and so on.
