Hadith 13223

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the people of Hell and said: Every ill-tempered (and ill-mannered), arrogant walker, proud, one who amasses a lot of wealth and is extremely miserly—these are all people of Hell.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Shall I not inform you about the people of Paradise? They are the weak and oppressed. Shall I not inform you about the people of the Fire? Every harsh and arrogant person.” (Ahmad: 2/508, Sahihah: 932)

In these ahadith, bad character and ill-temper, arrogance and pride, haughtiness and conceit, desire for fame and renown, wealth and riches, and miserliness and stinginess are condemned, and those possessing these traits are described as inhabitants of Hell. On the other hand, the virtue of the weak, the poor, and those who live in obscurity is mentioned—those who do not have any distinguished status in society, who are subdued and helpless, and whom no one gives importance to—yet they are honored and esteemed in the sight of Allah ta’ala.
