It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim Ta’i (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Save yourselves from Hell. At the same time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) expressed displeasure on his face; it seemed to us as if he was seeing it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Create means to save yourselves from Hell. Again, he expressed displeasure on his face. This happened two or three times. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Save yourselves from Hell, even if it is with a piece of a date, and if someone does not have that, then with a good word.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … That is, a Muslim should continue to give charity (sadaqah) according to his ability, and if someone does not even have the strength for that, then at least he should interact with people in a good manner, which is the easiest action. It is a separate matter that people’s temperaments have deteriorated, and they have reserved their good mood for only a few select individuals.
