It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the dream of the Adhan. He says: I came and informed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), but he said: Teach these words to Bilal. So I taught them to Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), then he gave the Adhan. When Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to say the Iqamah, I said: O Messenger of Allah! I saw the dream, so I wish to say the Iqamah myself. Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Alright) you say the Iqamah. Thus, Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said the Iqamah, while Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) had given the Adhan.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is the muezzin himself who should pronounce the iqamah; this was the practice prevalent during the blessed era of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and through this, order and discipline are maintained. There is no doubt that another person may also pronounce the iqamah. The verbal hadiths in which the iqamah is restricted to the muezzin or in which permission is given for someone else to pronounce it are weak.
