It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: How can I be happy when the angel who is to blow the trumpet has taken the trumpet to his mouth, lowered his forehead, and has placed his ears towards Allah Almighty, standing in wait for when he will be commanded to blow the trumpet? When the Companions heard this, it was very hard on them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: Recite this phrase: "Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel" (Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best disposer of affairs).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Indeed, the gaze of the bearer of the trumpet (Israfil alayhis salam), since he was entrusted with it, has been fixed towards the Throne, prepared and ready, out of fear that he might be commanded (to blow) before his gaze returns to him (i.e., before he can blink). It is as if his two eyes are two shining stars.” (Al-Hakim: 4/558-559, Sahihah: 1078)
