It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhaifah bin Asid Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were discussing the Day of Resurrection when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards us from an upper room and then said: The Hour will not be established until you see these ten signs: the rising of the sun from the west, smoke, the beast, the emergence of Gog and Magog, the descent of ‘Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him), the Dajjal, the sinking of the earth in three places: one in the west, one in the east, and one in the Arabian Peninsula, and a fire that will emerge from the farthest part of Aden, which will drive people, and wherever they spend the night, the fire will also spend the night there, and wherever they rest at noon, it will also rest there.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … ‘Aden is a famous city in Yemen. In Qamus it is stated that ‘Aden is the name of an island in Yemen. This fire is considered the first sign of the Day of Resurrection in the sense that after it, worldly affairs will come to an end, and in another sense, it is the last sign because among all the signs of the Day of Resurrection that have been mentioned, this fire will be the very last; after it, the Trumpet will be blown.
Summary of Hafiz Ibn Hajar’s discussion: There will be a total of four gatherings (hashr): two in this world and two in the Hereafter.
1. The first gathering, which is mentioned in Surah al-Hashr: {ہُوَالَّذِیْاَخْرَجَالَّذِیْنَکَفَرُوْامِنْاَہْلِالْکِتٰبِمِنْدِیَارِہِمْلِاَوَّلِالْحَشْرِ } (Surah al-Hashr: 2) … He (Allah) is the One Who expelled the disbelievers among the People of the Book from their homes at the first gathering. By this is meant the exile of the Jewish tribe Banu Nadir, who left Madinah Munawwarah and settled in Khaybar. In any case, this is not an independent type of gathering.
2. The second gathering is mentioned in those ahadith which are a sign of the Day of Resurrection. There are various narrations regarding the place from which this fire will emerge, for example: from the east, from Hijaz, from Hadramawt, from ‘Aden. The way to reconcile and harmonize these is that the fire will begin from the farthest region of ‘Aden, then it will spread throughout the land. It is also possible that the fire will begin from two or three places, as Qadi ‘Iyad has said.
3. The dead will be raised from their graves and taken towards the place of standing, as Allah the Exalted has said: {وَحَشَرْنَاھُمْفَلَمْنُغَادِرْمِنْھُمْاَحَدًا}
4. After the reckoning, people will be taken towards Paradise and Hell.
The above discussion is further clarified by the following hadith: Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “There will be migration after migration, and the best of the inhabitants of the earth will be those who most adhere to the place of migration of Ibrahim (alayhis salam) (i.e., Sham), and (at the time close to the Day of Resurrection) only the worst people will remain. Their lands will cast them out, Allah the Exalted will detest them, and the fire will gather them together with the monkeys and swine.” (Abu Dawud: 2482) The meaning of the last sentence is that the fire will gather them and drive them; these people, out of fear of the fire, will flee along with the animals.
The region of Sham at that time will be safe from the fire reaching it, and the angels of mercy will protect it.
