Hadith 13044

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A (caliph) will be given allegiance between the Black Stone and the Maqam Ibrahim, and the people of this House, that is, the people of this Ummah, will deem this House lawful (and will attack it), and when this happens, do not ask about the destruction of the Arabs of that time. Then the Abyssinians will come and demolish the Ka'bah brick by brick, after which this House will never be inhabited again. They will take out its treasures.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The people of this very Ummah will deem the Sacred House (Baytullah) lawful
That is, the people of Islam themselves will harm the Sacred House and violate its sanctities. This is exactly what happened; the desecration of the Haram continued at the hands of its own people. Details are forthcoming.

Hafiz Ibn Hajar says: If it is objected that these ahadith are contrary to the statement of Allah, the Exalted: {اَوَلَمْ یَرَوْا اَنَّا جَعَلْنَا حَرَمَا آمِنًا}, because according to this verse, the Haram has been declared a place of security, and Allah, the Exalted, prevented the Companions of the Elephant from it at a time when it was not even the qiblah of the Muslims. The question is: how will the Abyssinian be able to overpower it now, when it has also become the qiblah of the Muslims?

The answer is that the incident of this Abyssinian will occur in the last era, near the Day of Resurrection, at that time there will not remain a single person on this earth who says "Allah, Allah," as is mentioned in Sahih Muslim, where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "The Hour will not be established until 'Allah, Allah' is no longer said." That is why, in the narration of Sa'id ibn Sam'an, it is stated that after this incident, the Sacred House will never be inhabited again.

However, it is certainly true that fighting did take place in the Sacred House; then the Syrians attacked it during the time of Yazid ibn Mu'awiyah, and after that, several more attacks were carried out, the greatest of which was by the Qaramitah, which occurred in the fourth century Hijri. They killed countless Muslims in the area of circumambulation (mataf) and uprooted the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad) and took it to their region, only to return it after a long period. After that, several battles took place. But all of this does not contradict or conflict with the statement of Allah, the Exalted: {اَوَلَمْ یَرَوْا اَنَّا جَعَلْنَا حَرَمَا آمِنًا}, because all of this was done by the Muslims themselves, as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "And those who will violate the sanctities of the Sacred House will be its own people." So, the prediction made by the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam came to pass exactly as he said. The second point is that the verse does not indicate that the existence of security will remain continuously. And Allah knows best. (Fath al-Bari: 3/589) It is also possible that the purport of this verse be understood as referring to the predominant periods.
