Hadith 13029

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ”لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا فَإِذَا طَلَعَتْ وَرَآهَا النَّاسُ آمَنَ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَذَلِكَ حِينٌ لَا يَنْفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَانُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِي إِيمَانِهَا خَيْرًا“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The Hour will not be established until the sun rises from the west, and when it rises from the west and people see it, then all people will believe. But that will be a time when the belief of any person will not benefit him if he did not believe before that, or he did not do any good deed in his faith.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The command of Allah, the Exalted, is: {یَوْمَ یَاْتِیْ بَعْضُ اٰیٰتِ رَبِّکَ لَا یَنْفَعُ نَفْسًا اِیْمَانُھَا لَمْ تَکُنْ اٰمَنَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ اَوْکَسَبَتْ فِیْٓ اِیْمَانِھَا خَیْرًا} … On the day when any sign of your Lord comes, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before, or had not earned any good through its faith. (Surah al-An‘am: 158)
In this verse, the sign mentioned refers to the rising of the sun from the west. When the sun rises from the west instead of the east, the door of repentance will be closed, and the faith of anyone who believes at that time will not benefit them.
At the time of the appearance of this sign, whatever the state of a person’s faith or disbelief, and goodness or evil, that will be considered valid. Even though, after witnessing the sign, all people will bring faith, this faith will not benefit them. Likewise, after this sign, no good deed will be beneficial.
