It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The appearance of the Dajjal will occur at a time when the religious condition will be weak and knowledge will have been taken away. He will roam the earth for forty days; one of those days will be like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the remaining days will be like ordinary days. He will ride on a donkey such that the distance between its two ears will be forty cubits. He will say to the people: I am your Lord. He will be one-eyed, whereas your Lord is not one-eyed. Between his eyes will be written "Kafir" (disbeliever), i.e., K F R. Every literate and illiterate believer will be able to read this word. He will reach every water and every spring, that is, every place, except for Makkah Mukarramah and Madinah Munawwarah. Allah Almighty has made these two sacred precincts forbidden for him. At the gates of both, angels are appointed for protection. The Dajjal will have mountains of bread with him. All Muslims, except those who follow him, will be in severe poverty and hunger. He will have two rivers with him; I know both of them well. He will present one river as Paradise and the other as Hell, but the one he calls Paradise and whoever enters it, for him it will be Hell, and the one he calls Hell and whoever enters it, for him it will be Paradise. Allah Almighty will also send devils (jinn) with him; they will speak with people. He will have a great trial to test the people. He will command the sky, and people will see it rain. He will kill a man and then bring him back to life, and people will witness this scene. However, Allah Almighty will not give him the power to kill and revive anyone other than this man. While leading people astray, he will say: O people! Can anyone other than Allah do such things? In these circumstances, Muslims will run towards the mountain of Dukhan in Syria, but he will also go there and besiege them, and the siege will be severe. Those people will be afflicted with extreme poverty and hunger. Then Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him) will descend from the sky and in the morning will call out: O people! What is the matter, why do you not come out to face the worst liar? At first, people will think it is the voice of a jinn, but when they go and see, it will be Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him). Meanwhile, the congregation for prayer will be established, and it will be said to him: O Spirit of Allah! Please come forward and lead the prayer. But he will say: Your own Imam should come forward and lead the prayer. After performing the Fajr prayer, they will go out towards the Dajjal. When the false Dajjal sees him, he will begin to dissolve like salt dissolves in water. Then Isa (peace be upon him) will go towards him and kill him, and the situation for the Muslims will improve to such an extent that trees and stones will call out: O Spirit of Allah! Here is a Jew. Isa (peace be upon him) will catch and kill every single follower of the Dajjal.
