Narrated from Sayyiduna Nawwas bin Sam'an Kalabi (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the Dajjal one morning. While mentioning him, sometimes you would lower your voice and sometimes raise it, until we began to think that he was present among the date palms nearby. We became so frightened of him that when we came to your presence, you noticed the terror on our faces. We asked you (peace and blessings be upon him) further about the Dajjal, saying: O Messenger of Allah! Today you mentioned the Dajjal and during this, you sometimes lowered and sometimes raised your voice, until we thought he was somewhere among the date palms. You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I fear something for you more than the Dajjal, because if the Dajjal comes while I am among you, I will confront him on your behalf, and if he appears after me, then every person will have to defend himself, and Allah Almighty is my Khalifa (successor) over every Muslim (meaning Allah will protect every Muslim from the trial of the Dajjal). The Dajjal will be a young man, his hair will be curly, his eye will be like a protruding grape. He will appear in the areas between Syria and Iraq and will roam the earth right and left. O servants of Allah! Remain steadfast on your religion at that time. We asked: O Messenger of Allah! How long will he remain on the earth? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Forty days, but one day will be like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the rest of the days will be like your normal days. We asked: O Messenger of Allah! The day that is like a year, will the prayers of one day suffice for us in it? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, you must estimate the time and perform the prayers at intervals. We asked: O Messenger of Allah! How fast will he travel on the earth? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: His speed will be like that of a cloud driven by the wind. Then you (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Dajjal will pass by a tribe and invite them (to his lordship), the people will accept his word, then he will command the sky and it will rain, and the earth will produce vegetation. The animals grazing in the fields will return with larger humps, fuller udders, and bigger teats than before. Similarly, when he passes by another tribe and invites them (to believe in his lordship) and they reject his word, their wealth will leave them and follow the Dajjal, and those people will become destitute, with nothing left of their wealth. The Dajjal will pass by a ruined land and say to it, "Bring forth your treasures," and the treasures will come out and follow him like swarms of bees. You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Dajjal will strike a man with a sword and cut him in two, as quickly and suddenly as an arrow hits its target, then he will call the slain man to himself and he will come alive and approach him, his face shining with joy and contentment. The Dajjal will continue to mislead people with such tricks, until Allah Almighty will send down the Messiah, son of Maryam (peace be upon him). He will descend at a white minaret in the east of Damascus, wearing two garments dyed with saffron and wars, and placing his hands on the wings of angels. He will descend and pursue the Dajjal and kill him near the eastern gate of Lud. Meanwhile, Allah Almighty will reveal to Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) that He is about to send forth such servants that you will not be able to fight them, so take the believing servants and go to Mount Tur. After that, Allah Almighty will bring forth Gog and Magog, whose condition and state is described in the Qur'an as follows: {مِنْ کُلِّ حَدَبٍ یَّنْسِلُوْنَ} (They will surge forth from every height). (Surah Al-Anbiya: 96) Then Isa (peace be upon him) and his companions will turn to Allah Almighty, and Allah will create a worm in the necks of Gog and Magog, causing them to die quickly. After that, Isa (peace be upon him) and his companions will descend from Mount Tur, and when they see that their corpses and stench are lying in every house on the earth, they and their companions will pray to Allah Almighty, and Allah will send birds with necks like Bactrian camels, which will carry their corpses and throw them wherever Allah wills. Yahya bin Jabir says: Ata bin Yazid Sakskasi narrated to me from Sayyiduna Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) or another companion that those birds will throw the corpses of Gog and Magog into Mahbal. I asked him where Mahbal is, and he replied: Where the sun rises from. After that, Allah Almighty will send rain, which will continue for forty days. No tent or house will be deprived of this rain. Allah Almighty will wash the earth thoroughly with this rain, and the earth will become as clean as a smooth stone. Then, by the command of Allah, the earth will be told to bring forth its fruits and its blessings. You (peace and blessings be upon him) said that in those days there will be so much blessing in fruits and other things that a large group of people will eat from one pomegranate, and they will also sit in the shade of its peel. There will be so much blessing in milk that the milk of one she-camel will suffice for large groups of people, the milk of one cow will suffice for a group, and the milk of one goat will suffice for a household. People will be living in such prosperity when Allah Almighty will send a fragrant wind from under the armpits of the Muslims, which will take the soul of every Muslim, and only the worst people will remain. They will be so shameless that they will openly commit intercourse with women like donkeys, and then the Hour will be established upon such people.
