Narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Yazid, she says: We were present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his house, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three years before the appearance of Dajjal, the sky will withhold one-third of its water and the earth will withhold one-third of its crops. When the second year comes, the sky will withhold two-thirds of its water and the earth will withhold two-thirds of its crops. Then, when the third year begins, the sky will completely withhold its water and the earth will completely withhold its crops. All animals with humps (camels) and hooves (cows, oxen, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys) will perish. Meanwhile, Dajjal will come and say to a villager: If I bring your she-camels back to you fat, fresh, and with udders full of milk, will you believe that I am your Lord? He will say: Yes, absolutely. After that, the devils will take the form of that man’s camels, so the man will follow him. In the same way, Dajjal will say to another man: If I bring your father, son, and all those among your family whom you recognize back to life, will you believe that I am your Lord? He will say: Yes, absolutely. Then he will present devils in the form of those people, so that man will also follow him. After this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went outside, and all the people present in the house began to weep. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned, we were all crying. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Why are you crying? I (Asma) said: O Messenger of Allah! Because of what you have described about Dajjal. In one narration it is mentioned: You have shaken our hearts by mentioning Dajjal. By Allah! I have a maid among my family, when she kneads dough, she does not even finish her work before she starts to break down from hunger. In another narration it is mentioned: When we knead dough, we do not even finish baking bread before we feel hungry, so what will we do at that time? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At that time, for the people of faith, glorifying Allah (takbeer), declaring His perfection (tasbeeh), and praising Him (tahmeed) will suffice instead of food and drink. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not weep, for if Dajjal appears while I am among you, I will confront him, and if it happens after me, then Allah Himself will be the guardian of every Muslim.
