Abu Qabeel says: We were sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was asked which of the two cities, Constantinople or Rome, would be conquered first. He called for a box with hinges, took out a book from it, and said: Once we were sitting around the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) writing down ahadith, when the same question was asked to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Which city will be conquered first, Constantinople or Rome? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: The city of Heraclius, that is, Constantinople, will be conquered first.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah radi Allahu anhu, during his era, sent two naval expeditions for the conquest of Constantinople, but success was not achieved. Then, in 98 AH, the armies of Islam once again besieged Constantinople, but due to unfavorable weather and Greek fire (explosive material), the city could not be conquered.
After the death of Sultan Muhammad the Second, the reins of government came into the hands of his twenty-three-year-old son, Muhammad the Second. He was the first Ottoman Sultan who resolved to conquer Constantinople and succeeded in doing so. This event took place in 857 AH.
Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah says: By "Rumiyyah" is meant Rome, as is mentioned in (Mu‘jam al-Buldan). Today, it is the capital of Italy. Muhammad al-Fatih al-‘Uthmani conquered Constantinople; this was in the ninth century AH. The conquest of Rumiyyah will also take place; after some time, people will come to know of it. Without any doubt, after that conquest, the Islamic Caliphate will be granted to the Muslim Ummah. (Sahihah: 4)
