It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her): Once, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was lying in my house, when suddenly he quickly sat up and began to recite: "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return." I said: O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you, what has happened that you are reciting "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return"? He replied: A group from my Ummah will come from the direction of Syria; they will come to confront a man who will be protected by Allah Almighty. When this group reaches the plain of Bayda near Dhul-Hulaifa, all the people included in it will be swallowed up by the earth, but their resurrection from the earth will be in different ways. I said: O Messenger of Allah! How will it be that all the people will be swallowed up, but their resurrection from the earth will be different from each other? He replied: Among them will be some people who will have been compelled, among them will be some people who will have been compelled. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) repeated this sentence three times.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The correct context of this hadith is as follows:
From Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, he says: Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, narrated to me, she said: While the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was sleeping, he smiled in his sleep. Then when he woke up, I said: O Messenger of Allah! What made you smile? He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Indeed, some people from my ummah will set out for this House (the Ka‘bah) for a man from Quraysh who will have sought refuge in the Haram. When they reach the plain of Bayda’, they will be swallowed up. Their points of departure will be different, but Allah will resurrect them according to their intentions.” I said: How will Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, resurrect them according to their intentions when their points of departure are different? He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “The road gathered them together; among them will be one who is clear in his purpose, a traveler, and one who is compelled. They will all perish at the same place, but they will be resurrected from different places.” … It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (radi Allahu anha), she says: The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was sleeping, and he smiled in his sleep. Then when he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) woke up, I said: O Messenger of Allah! What was the reason for your smiling? He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: Some people from my ummah will intend this House of Allah (the Ka‘bah) for the sake of a man from Quraysh who will have taken refuge in the Haram. When they reach the place of Bayda’, they will be swallowed up, but their points of departure will be different, because Allah, the Exalted, will resurrect them according to their intentions. I said: How can it be that Allah, the Exalted, will resurrect them according to their intentions while their points of departure are different (even though their place of destruction is the same)? He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: In reality, they will be gathered on one path, but among them, some will have a clear purpose, some will be travelers, and some will be compelled. Therefore, they will all perish at one place, but they will depart from different places. (Musnad Ahmad: 24738, and Muslim has narrated it similarly: 2884)
