It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At the time of the death of a (certain) caliph, people will fall into disagreement. At that time, a man will flee from Madinah Munawwarah and go to Makkah Mukarramah. Some people from among the people of Makkah will come to him, bring him out, and pledge allegiance to him between the Black Stone and the Station of Ibrahim, while he will dislike this. An army from Syria will march against them, but when it reaches the plain of Bayda, it will be swallowed up by the earth right there. When people see this situation, the righteous people of Syria and the armies of Iraq will come and pledge allegiance to him. Then a man from the Quraysh will rise, whose maternal uncles are from the tribe of Kalb. The man from Makkah will send a detachment against him, and they will prevail over them. This will be the army of Banu Kalb. Woe to those who are not present for the spoils of Banu Kalb. Then he will distribute wealth among the people and establish the practice of the Prophet among the people, and he will establish and strengthen the religion of Islam on the earth, and he will remain for seven years.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This narration is weak, and in the following narrations it has not been clarified that their referent will be Imam Mahdi. However, Imam Abu Dawud has mentioned such ahadith in his Sunan in the Book of Mahdi (Kitab al-Mahdi). Imam Tayyibi said: By this caliph is meant Imam Mahdi, because Imam Abu Dawud has mentioned these ahadith in the Book of Mahdi.
