Hadith 12894

وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَقْتَتِلَ فِئَتَانِ عَظِيمَتَانِ، يَكُونُ بَيْنَهُمَا مَقْتَلَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ، وَدَعْوَاهُمَا وَاحِدَةٌ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The Day of Judgment will not be established until there is a great war between two large groups, and the claim of both will be the same.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By these two groups are meant the group of Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu and the group of Sayyiduna Muawiyah radi Allahu anhu. During the caliphate of Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu, the Battle of Siffin took place between these two groups. After the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu, reconciliation between these two groups was achieved through Sayyiduna Hasan radi Allahu anhu.
