Hadith 12856

Mawla of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: "The time is near when all the nations will pounce upon you from every direction, just as eaters gather around a dish." We said: "O Messenger of Allah! Will we be few in those days?" He (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: "No, no, rather in those days your numbers will be many, but your status will be like the scum, twigs, and foam carried by a flood, and the awe of you will be removed from the hearts of your enemies, and weakness (wahn) will enter your hearts." We asked: "What is meant by wahn?" He (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: "Love of the world and dislike of death."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the present age, the world of Islam has become a manifestation of this hadith; Muslims, due to love of the world, aversion to death, and awe of their enemies, have abandoned jihad. As a result, not only has the awe and prestige of Muslims and Islamic states vanished, but they themselves have become severely overawed in front of their enemies.
