Hadith 12849

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Nufail Sakuni (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were present in the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when suddenly a man asked you: O Messenger of Allah! Has food ever come to you from the sky? You (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Yes. He then asked: What was with it? You (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: With it was such a vessel in which the food remained hot. The companions asked: Was anything left from that food? You replied: Yes. He then asked: What became of it? You (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: It was taken up, and revelation began to come to me that death is approaching me and I will no longer remain among you, and you too will remain for only a short time after me, rather you will remain for such a short period that you will ask one another: Have we departed so soon? And you will come in groups and destroy one another, and before the Day of Judgment, deaths will become widespread, and after that, the years of earthquakes will begin.
