Hadith 128

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Verily, Allah Almighty sent His Prophet to admit a servant into Paradise. The matter is that he (the Prophet) entered a church, where some Jews were sitting and one of them was reading the Torah to them. When he reached the description of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he stopped. In a corner, a sick man was sitting. The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: “Why did you stop?” The sick man said: “There is mention of a Prophet ahead, that is why he stopped.” Then that sick man dragged himself forward until he took hold of the Torah and began to read it, until he read the description of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Ummah, and then he said: “O Messenger of Allah! These are your and your Ummah’s descriptions. I bear witness that Allah Almighty alone is the true deity and you are His Messenger.” Then that man passed away. The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said to his companions: “Take care of your brother (and arrange for his funeral and burial).”

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This narration is indeed weak, but if such an incident occurs with a non-Muslim, he will be considered a Muslim, and rather, it will be assumed with good opinion (husn al-zann) that all his previous sins have been forgiven, because the sins committed before the acceptance of Islam are forgiven.
