Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My advent and the Hour are like these two fingers joined together. He then indicated by spreading his index and middle fingers.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By pointing with the middle finger and the index finger, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) may have had two objectives: (1) Just as these two fingers are close together and joined, so is the matter of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the Hour (Qiyamah); (1) The distance remaining between the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the Hour is only as much as the middle finger is longer than the index finger.
