Hadith 12771

(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In a house where there are no dates, it is as if there is no food.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In our context, wheat or rice can be given as examples in accordance with this hadith, because just as the Arabs used dates as a staple food, we use wheat or rice in the same way. That is, in our society, if a household has wheat or rice, then the family can manage, but if even these things are not available, then what will those poor people do, as is the case with some impoverished individuals.

If the meaning of the hadith is understood in a general sense, then it means that those individuals or households whose food does not include dates will suffer from nutritional deficiency. If one considers the numerous benefits of dates, then the statement of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam becomes very clear and understandable. (Abdullah Rafiq)
