It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The example of a believer is like a tree whose leaves do not fall. People began to speculate about the various trees of the forest; it occurred to me that it is the date palm tree, but due to being young, I hesitated to speak. Finally, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: It is the date palm tree. Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, says: I mentioned this to Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, so he said: Son! What prevented you from speaking? By Allah! If you had said this there, it would have been more beloved to me today than anything else.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The fruit of the date palm, at whatever stage of ripeness, is beneficial; its pit contains cures for many ailments, and from its leaves are made baskets, mats, prayer rugs, and threads for weaving charpoys (woven beds). In the same way, a believer should understand his own status and should not cause harm to anyone; rather, he should prove beneficial for every Muslim.
Imam Mubarakpuri rahimahullah said: Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Indeed, among the trees is one whose blessing is like the blessing of a Muslim.” (Bukhari: 5444) That is, there is a tree whose blessing is like the blessing of a Muslim. He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) meant the date palm.
All parts of the date palm are blessed, and at all times it is possible to benefit from these blessings. As soon as the date seed comes into existence, from that time until it dries, its various types are consumed; then its pit is used as animal fodder, and ropes, etc., are made from its leaves. In the same way, the blessings of a believer should be widespread in all circumstances; his existence should be such that both he himself and others benefit from his presence during his life and after his death.
