Hadith 12763

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty looks upon His creation on the night of mid-Sha’ban and forgives all His servants, except for two types of people: one who harbors enmity against someone, and one who is a murderer.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This very night is called Shab-e-Bara’at among us. Regarding the virtue of this night, only the aforementioned hadith is authentic. However, from this hadith it does not necessarily follow that special night vigil (qiyam) should be performed on this night, nor that a special fast should be observed on its day. A specific proof is required for a specific act of worship.

The virtue of the fifteenth night of Sha’ban (nisf Sha’ban) mentioned in this hadith is also the virtue of every Monday and Thursday.
