It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the words of the adhan were said twice each, and in the iqamah, once each; however, in the iqamah, the mu’adhdhin would say “Qad qamatis salah, qad qamatis salah” (twice). And whenever we heard the iqamah, we would perform ablution and come out for prayer. Imam Shu’bah says: This is all that I remember.
