Hadith 12720

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Amr ibn al-‘As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was sleeping when angels came to me. I saw in a dream that they pulled the pillar of the Book from beneath my pillow, then they took it and headed towards the region of Syria. Beware, the essence of faith will be in that region of Syria where tribulations will arise.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Hafiz Ibn Hajar said: The interpreters among the people of knowledge hold the view that whoever sees a pillar (amud) in a dream, it refers to religion or a trustworthy person. Therefore, they have interpreted the pillar as representing religion and authority. (Fath al-Bari: 12/403)

The word "amud" (pillar) has various meanings, for example: the ray of dawn, support, column, a trustworthy leader of the people, a whirlwind shining in the sky, a thick bamboo, etc.
