عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَحْمِلُونَ اللَّبِنَ لِبِنَاءِ الْمَسْجِدِ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَهُمْ، قَالَ: فَاسْتَقْبَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عَارِضٌ لَبِنَةً عَلَى بَطْنِهِ، فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهَا قَدْ شَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ، قُلْتُ: نَاوِلْنِيهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! قَالَ: ”خُذْ غَيْرَهَا يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ! فَإِنَّهُ لَا عَيْشَ إِلَّا عَيْشُ الْآخِرَةِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the noble Companions, may Allah be pleased with them all, were carrying bricks for the construction of the Prophet’s Mosque, and Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, was with them as well. I came before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and saw that he, peace and blessings be upon him, was carrying a large brick pressed against his stomach. I thought that it was difficult for him, peace and blessings be upon him, to carry it, so I said: O Messenger of Allah! Please give it to me. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Abu Hurairah! You bring more, the real life is the life of the Hereafter.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This hadith is not authentic in terms of meaning or text, because it is not possible that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu was present at the time of the construction of the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid al-Nabawi), since Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu arrived in Madinah Munawwarah in 7 AH, whereas the construction of the Prophet’s Mosque was completed in 1 AH.
