Hadith 12632

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, it was the most plague-ridden land on the face of the earth. When Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) complained about this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made this supplication: O Allah! Instill love for Madinah in our hearts just as You have instilled love for Makkah in our hearts, or even more than that. And make it pure and healthy by cleansing it of diseases, and bless its mudd and sa’ for us, and transfer its fever from here to Hajfah.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: ... Juhfah was a very large village, located at a distance of eighty-two miles from Makkah Mukarramah. It was also called Mahya‘ah. This was a dwelling place of the Jews, and not a single Muslim lived there. Therefore, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) supplicated that the fever of Madinah Munawwarah be transferred there, as Imam Nawawi has transmitted the statements of Imam Ibn Hibban and others in Sharh Muslim.
