It is narrated from Saeed Maqbari that when Amr bin Saeed was sending his army towards Makkah Mukarramah for battle, Abu Shurayh Adawi said to him: O Amir! I will tell you something that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said the day after the conquest of Makkah. My ears heard this, my heart remembered it, and my eyes saw it, where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke. First, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praised and glorified Allah Almighty, and then said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, it is not permissible for him to shed blood in this city or to cut its trees. If anyone uses the fighting of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as a basis to justify fighting in Makkah, then tell him that Allah Almighty gave His Messenger permission to fight in Makkah, but He did not give you this permission, and even for me, it was allowed only for a part of the day, that is, for a short while. Today, its sanctity is restored just as it was yesterday. Those who are present should convey these words to those who are not present.
