Hadith 12548

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”أَسْرَعُ قَبَائِلِ الْعَرَبِ فَنَاءً قُرَيْشٌ، وَيُوشِكُ أَنْ تَمُرَّ الْمَرْأَةُ بِالنَّعْلِ، فَتَقُولَ: إِنَّ هَذَا نَعْلُ قُرَشِيٍّ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the Arab tribes, the tribe that will be destroyed the soonest is that of Quraysh. It is near that a woman will pass by a shoe and say: This is the shoe of a Qurayshi man.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is possible that by “shoe” the intent of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was some symbol or sign of the Quraysh. Further clarification of this Prophetic statement is found in the following hadith:
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “O Aisha! Your people will be the quickest of my ummah to join me.” She said: When you sat down, I said: O Messenger of Allah! May Allah make me your ransom, you came and said something that frightened me. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam asked: What is that? She said: You claim that my people will be the quickest of your ummah to join you. He said: Yes. She said: And why is that? The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: Death will seem sweet to them, and their nation will envy them. She said: So what will be the state of people after that or at that time? He said: Like locusts, the strong will consume the weak until the Hour is established upon them. (al-Sahihah: 1953)
… O Aisha! From my ummah, your people will be the first to join me. She says: When you sat down, I said: O Messenger of Allah! May Allah make me your ransom, you came and said something that has frightened me. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam asked: Which thing? She said: You were saying that from your ummah, my people will be the first to join you. He said: Yes. She said: Why will it be so? The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: Death will seem sweet to them, and their nation will envy them. She said: So what will be the state of people after that or at that time? He said: Like locusts, the strong will consume the weak (and there will be no one to do justice), and upon those people the Hour will be established.
