Hadith 12520

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We performed the Maghrib prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), after which we thought that we should wait and perform the ‘Isha prayer with him as well. So we waited. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came at the time of ‘Isha, he said: “Have you been sitting here since Maghrib?” We said: “O Messenger of Allah! Yes, we thought that we would perform the ‘Isha prayer with you as well.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “You did well.” After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head towards the sky, and he would often raise his head towards the sky, then he said: “These stars are the protectors of the sky; when they disappear, what Allah has promised for the sky will be fulfilled. And I am the protector of my companions; when I depart, what has been promised to my companions will befall them. And my companions are the protectors of my Ummah; when my companions depart, then severe conditions that have been promised to my Ummah will befall them.”

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Although in the later period of the era of the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum), certain forms of tribulation, corruption, and insecurity did exist, yet if we look at the subsequent eras, that was a time of great goodness.

Respected readers! In order to understand the reality of the ahadith of this and the next chapter, it is necessary that we possess, in the light of our Shari‘ah, the ability to distinguish between matters of good and evil. Otherwise, today everyone claims that “there is none like us” and that only they are the people of excellence. The era of evil and wickedness through which the Muslim Ummah is now passing is unprecedented in the past, but the calamity is that no one is prepared to declare evil as evil. One example is that in the Shari‘ah, it is forbidden to look at an unveiled woman, but now, through social media, print media, electronic media, marketplaces, recreational places, wedding occasions, forms of entertainment, advertisements, and educational institutions, women have been made so commonly visible—sometimes in bridal attire, even semi-naked—that it has become difficult to explain even to the elderly men and women, let alone the new generation, that looking at a woman is a sin and all these are forms of sin. Al-‘iyadhu billah (we seek Allah’s protection).
