It is narrated from Umair bin Hani, he says: I heard Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) saying from this pulpit that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A group from my Ummah will remain, by Allah’s command, until the Day of Judgment; those who oppose them will not be able to harm them in any way, rather, they will prevail over the people. Malik bin Yukhamir Siksaki said: O Commander of the Faithful! I heard Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) say that the people of Shaam are the ones referred to in this hadith. Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said in a loud voice: This Malik is saying that he also heard Sayyiduna Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) say that by this group is meant the people of Shaam.
