Hadith 12487

عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي قُبَّةٍ نَحْوٌ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ فَقَالَ ”أَتَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ تَكُونُوا رُبُعَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ“ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ ”أَتَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ تَكُونُوا ثُلُثَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ“ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ ”وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونُوا نِصْفَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَذَاكَ أَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ لَا يَدْخُلُهَا إِلَّا نَفْسٌ مُسْلِمَةٌ وَمَا أَنْتُمْ فِي الشِّرْكِ إِلَّا كَالشَّعْرَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فِي جِلْدِ ثَوْرٍ أَسْوَدَ أَوِ السَّوْدَاءِ فِي جِلْدِ ثَوْرٍ أَحْمَرَ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were about forty men with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a tent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Are you pleased that you will be a fourth of the people of Paradise? We said: Yes. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Are you pleased that your number will be a third of the people of Paradise? We said: Yes! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I hope that half of the people of Paradise will be you, because only those will enter Paradise who are Muslims, and in comparison to the polytheists, your number is like a white hair on the skin of a black ox or a black hair on the skin of a red ox.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Ummah of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has two distinguishing characteristics: its lifespan is greater, and at any given time, its numbers are also much greater. Now, the fifteenth century of the Ummah of sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is ongoing, and its population is more or less over one and a quarter billion. The clear result of these characteristics is that their number in Paradise will also be greater.
