Ata bin Abi Rabah says: “Someone who heard Umm Salamah narrated to me that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was in her house when Fatimah came to him with a pot in which there was khazirah (a dish made with meat). She entered with it upon him, so he said to her: ‘Call your husband and your two sons.’ She said: So Ali, Hasan, and Husayn came and entered upon him, and they sat eating from that khazirah, while he (the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was on a raised platform which was his sleeping place, and beneath it was a cloak from Khaybar. She said: And I was praying in the room, when Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: {إِنَّمَا یُرِیدُ اللّٰہُ لِیُذْہِبَ عَنْکُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَہْلَ الْبَیْتِ وَیُطَہِّرَکُمْ تَطْہِیرًا} [الأحزاب: ۳۳] She said: So he took the remaining part of the cloak and covered them with it, then he extended his hand towards the sky and said: ‘O Allah! These are the people of my household and my chosen ones, so remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly. O Allah! These are the people of my household and my chosen ones, so remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly.’ She said: So I inserted my head into the house and said: ‘And am I with you, O Messenger of Allah?’ He said: ‘You are upon good, you are upon good.’” Abdul Malik said: “Abu Layla narrated to me from Umm Salamah a narration similar to that of Ata, exactly the same.” Abdul Malik said: “Dawud bin Abi Awf Abu al-Hajjaf narrated to me from Shahr bin Hawshab from Umm Salamah with a similar narration, exactly the same.” …

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah radi Allahu anha, she says: The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was present in my house. Sayyidah Fatimah radi Allahu anha came with a pot in which there was khazirah prepared with meat. When she entered upon the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said: “Call your husband and your two sons and bring them.” In the meantime, Sayyiduna Ali, Sayyiduna Hasan, and Sayyiduna Husayn radi Allahu anhum came to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and all of them began eating the khazirah. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was on a platform (a raised place), which was his sleeping place, and beneath it was a cloak made in Khaybar. Sayyidah Umm Salamah radi Allahu anha says: I was praying in the chamber, and at that time Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: {إِنَّمَا یُرِیدُ اللّٰہُ لِیُذْہِبَ عَنْکُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَہْلَ الْبَیْتِ وَیُطَہِّرَکُمْ تَطْہِیرًا} … “Indeed, Allah only intends to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and to purify you completely.” After this, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam took the extra part of the cloak and covered them with it, then raised his hand towards the sky and said: “O Allah! These are my household and my chosen ones, so remove impurity from them and purify them.” O Allah! These are my household and my chosen ones, so remove impurity from them and purify them.” Umm Salamah radi Allahu anha says: I inserted my head under that cloak and said: “O Messenger of Allah! Am I included with you?” He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Indeed, you are upon good, indeed, you are upon good.” (Musnad Ahmad: 27041)
