Hadith 12407

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were performing the ‘Isha prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) would go into prostration, Sayyiduna Hasan and Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) would climb onto his back. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to raise his head, he would gently take them with his hand from behind and seat them on the ground. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) went into the second prostration, they would do the same again. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the prayer, he seated both of them on his thighs. I (Abu Hurairah) got up and went towards him and said: O Messenger of Allah! Shall I take them home? At that moment, a light appeared, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: Both of you go to your mother. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: That light remained until both of them entered the house. In another narration, it is stated: That light remained until both of them reached their mother.
