الْفَضْلُ الْخَامِسُ فِي اخْتِيَارِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلِيًّا لَا خُذِ الراية يَوْمَ خَيْبََر وَفِيهِ مَنقَبَةٌ لِعَلِى رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَمُعْجِرَةٌ لِلنَّبِيٌ صلَّى اللهُ عَليهِ وسَلمَThe Fifth Virtue Regarding the Prophet's ﷺ Choosing Ali to Carry the Banner on the Day of Khaybar, and in It Is a Merit for Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, and a Miracle for the Prophet ﷺ
Hadith 12320

وَعَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ قَالَ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ ”لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ“ فَتَطَاوَلْنَا لَهَا فَقَالَ ”ادْعُوا لِي عَلِيًّا“ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ أَرْمَدَ فَبَصَقَ فِي عَيْنَيْهِ وَدَفَعَ الرَّايَةَ إِلَيْهِ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {نَدْعُ أَبْنَاءَنَا وَأَبْنَاءَكُمْ} [آل عمران: 61] دَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلِيًّا وَفَاطِمَةَ وَحَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا فَقَالَ ”اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلِي“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: On the day of Khaybar, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: I will give this flag to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger also love him. All of us raised our necks in the desire to receive the flag. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Call Ali. So he was brought, but his eyes were hurting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) applied his blessed saliva to his eyes and handed the flag over to him. Allah Almighty granted victory at his hands. And when this verse {نَدْعُ أَبْنَائَنَا وَأَبْنَائَکُمْ} was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Ali, Sayyida Fatima, Sayyiduna Hasan, and Sayyiduna Husayn and said: O Allah! These people are my family.
