وَعَنْ أَبِي سَهْلَةَ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ يَوْمَ الدَّارِ حِينَ حُصِرَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ عَهْدًا فَأَنَا صَابِرٌ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ قَيْسٌ فَكَانُوا يَرَوْنَهُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ
It is narrated from Abu Sahla that when Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was besieged in his house, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took a covenant from me, and I will remain steadfast upon it. Qais said: On that day, people were looking at Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) with longing.
